Director of "Resumen Latinoamericano" on target
Recently, the writer Carlos Aznarez was indicted, due to a lawsuit filed by the Association of Jews from Argentina for "Organization discriminatory and propaganda", brandishing the argument of "anti-Semitism". The law suit was eradicated by lawyers of the Jewish Association before the public prosecutor office No 5, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Carlos Aznarez is a journalist with more than 25 years of journalistic experience, he is the director of the newspaper "Resumen Latinoamericano" that covers also radio and television in Argentina, he is known for his strong and direct journalistic personality, seeking truth wherever it is found.
In a democracy, everyone has the right to file lawsuits, if you believe that exist the necessary evidence to demonstrate that your rights have been violated or if you believe there has been a criminal action against you. But when the lawsuit is against freedom of expression, information, human rights, which are supposed to be protected by the constitution in a democratic country, it is undoubtedly unconstitutional and immoral.
The most terrible action was, the prosecutor office ordering the company Google Inc. to immediately allow them access to all the account of electronic mails of Mr. Aznarez. He was informed by the Court of First Instance No. 28 of Conventions and Offenses, with case No. 7271/15, a criminal complaint was filed against him. Such action makes the prosecutor office also participate on the violation of the constitutional rights of Mr. Aznarez.
The privacy of Mr. Aznarez has been violated, and no matter the outcome of the case, his life and the life of his family are now in danger, not mentioning his friends and professionals who work with him. We don’t want to imagine the future consequences of the Argentine journalism.
The Jewish Association has accused him of being in solidarity with the Palestinian people. It is important to note that the criminal lawsuit, filed by lawyers for the Association of Jews can’t be taken into account, if you see that the only weapon that may have had, Mr. Aznarez, was the keyboard of his computer, his vision, and also the use of his mind, free and honest, sometimes may offend the weak of conscience and persons with the media-paranoia.
The legal basis the Association of Jews expressed is that Mr. Aznarez had participated, in April 2014, in solidarity with the Palestinian people, when the government Israelite bombing Gaza, causing thousands of deaths of people, including children and also in West Bank. Since the presence of Mr. Aznarez was considered criminal.
He expressed that his presence was as a journalist seeking information, on firsthand, to be delivered to a free people in search of the truth. Likewise, he expressed his opinion about what happened there, when he was asked by others journalistic sources, for what he witnessed in Gaza.
Mr. Aznares expressed, ‘not because I was in Gaza with other persons from Argentina, informing the cruelty of what was happening, I could be offensive to my accusers, who saw the opportunity to file a lawsuit’. The prosecutor seeks a prison sentence for him, and by association, why not ‘prison for the democracy and the constitution of his country?’.
