The Mediterranean diet -- one heavy on veggies, nuts, and frui with limits on meat and dairy -- is the way to go. Study after study has shown it is the key to help you live longer and puts you at a lower risk for cancer and cardio vascular diseases. It even keeps your brain younger and healthier. And while you will feel better and potentially live longer on a diet that favors veggies and fruits, it will also help you maintain a healthy weight and a thinner waist line, which is good for your overall health, self-esteem, and mental well-being too.
Deep down in our reasoning, we know that this is true, even if we are oriented to act differently. We need to cut more calories and avoid eating fast food and sugary sodas. We have to work hard to adapt a healthy diet and change our old bad eating habits. It is known, in our society, that when we talk about vegetables we realize that is good idea to eat them, but when we try to do that it’s not easy to apply the rule.
The American society, little by little, is reacting regarding the necessity to include more fruits and vegetables in our daily diet. Our children are beginning to consider healthy foods more frequently. There is a similar behavior among adults, but that's not enough when you consider the USDA recommendations.
Keeping in mind how healthy should our diet be, we want to provide some tips to eat a more variety dishes and of course healthier.
It is known that the Mediterranean diet is excellent and very easy to prepare. All you need is to combine the proper ingredients with the proper condiments to avoid eating the same every day. It will be boring eating the same food every day without the proper variety.
Make your main dish with plenty vegetables and grains like beans and cereals aside. You can eat fish and poultry at least twice a week. Snack on nuts and fruit. You don't have to do anything too extreme to avoid carbs. You can have three servings of those a day, especially if they are of the whole-grain variety. If you drink, enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner. The red variety is supposed to be particularly good for your heart health. Cook with olive oil as opposed to butter. And limit the amount of saturated fat, meat, and dairy.
If for any reason is difficult for you stop eating meat or burgers, don’t be alarmed, once in a while won’t hurt you, but not every week, please. The National Cattleman's Beef Association says the scientific evidence does not support a causal relationship between red meat or processed meat and cancer. But the International Agency for Research on Cancer that did the report says that based on the research it used for its study, an estimated 50-gram portion of processed meat you eat increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 18%.. And of course just because something raises the risk of cancer doesn't mean you will get it.
Eat more vegetables and you'll feel better, you'll be healthier and you'll look good, too.
Also remember that, directly, what influence in good health is avoiding those products with preservatives, in cans, with gluten, and additives included that maintain the products durables. At the same time, try to consume organic products and especially a balanced diet with various healthy products in your daily meals and a lot of water.
The most difficult part is to break a diet that has followed you for years. And then, suddenly, you have to adopt a new life style, but you should be aware that there are so many ways to prepare healthy recipes, with good taste and flavors.
Finally, don’t forget to do a lot exercise or at least a long walk for approximately 45 minutes daily according to your age.
